IDXChannel – The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir said Qatar would invest USD80 million equivalent to Rp1.2 trillion (exchange rate of Rp15,100 per USD) to build a hotel in Labuan Bajo.
This investment includes government programs in the success of the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo.
“We encouraged this commitment when we went to Doha, Qatar some time ago,” said Erick Thohir.
President Joko Widodo decided that Labuan Bajo would be the main venue for the 2023 ASEAN Summit to attract investors through tourist destinations in the area.
Not only in terms of infrastructure, Erick explained that in terms of software or organizing various events, it is also encouraged to
advance tourism.
This is the same as tourism in Bali which was encouraged through the holding of the 2022 G20 Summit some time ago, so that the economy of the Island of the Gods was able to grow.
